Miami and Beyond with Family: Adventure Through Islands, Nature and Magic

A trip to Florida means sunshine, tropical beaches, wild nature, and endless fun. Last June I had the chance to live this adventure with my mom and sister: from Miami to Key West, through the Everglades, and finally ending in Orlando at Disney World. Here’s our itinerary and some practical tips for those who dream of a similar journey.

Things to Do in Miami in 2 Days: Modern Vibes and Dreamy Beaches

Our adventure began in Miami, an iconic Florida city. The mix of modern skyscrapers and Caribbean-style beaches makes it an unmissable stop.

One of the highlights was strolling along Ocean Drive in South Beach: pastel-colored Art Deco buildings, endless palm trees, and a lively atmosphere that never stops. We spent hours at the beach, enjoying turquoise waters and soft white sand.

👉 Travel tip: getting around Miami is easier by car or Uber. If you want to explore multiple neighborhoods in a short time, consider renting a car.

From Miami to Key West: Driving the Overseas Highway

After exploring Miami, we headed south toward Key West. The drive itself was spectacular: the Overseas Highway is one of the world’s most famous scenic roads, suspended between ocean and sky.

In Key West, we found a relaxed and bohemian vibe. We visited the famous Hemingway House and ended the day at Mallory Square, watching one of the most beautiful sunsets ever.

👉 Travel tip: bring water and sunscreen. If you want to stay overnight in Key West, make sure to book in advance, as the island is very popular.

Everglades Tour: Florida’s Wild Side and Alligators

A trip to Florida wouldn’t be complete without a stop at the Everglades National Park, famous for its wetlands and alligators.

We joined an airboat tour, the iconic fan-powered boats that glide across the water and mangroves. Spotting alligators up close and seeing colorful birds in the wild was both thrilling and unforgettable.

👉 Travel tip: wear light but covering clothes and don’t forget insect repellent, especially during summer months.

Orlando and Disney World: Tips to Experience the Magic

From the silence of the Everglades we moved on to the fantasy of Orlando, home to world-famous theme parks. Visiting Disney World was a dream come true: parades, attractions, castles—it truly made us feel like kids again.

Magic was everywhere, from the smallest details to the grand experiences, and sharing it with my mom and sister made it even more special.

👉 Travel tip: buy your tickets online in advance and download the Disney app to plan your day, check waiting times, and make the most of your visit.

In just a few days, we experienced the best of Florida:

This trip gave us so many different emotions at each stop, but above all, it gave us unforgettable family memories that we will cherish forever.
